Microsoft 365 Family---can I have 2 of the family accounts in my name, using differeny email addresses? It doesnt seem to work in respect to One Drive. Any advice?
Main Post:
Last week, I purchased Microsoft 365 Family Plan, which includes inviting 5 additional family members. I am only using it for myself so far, and have not yet invited any additional family members. So far, I am uploading my computer's hard drive to the 1TB One Drive--this is on continuous sync, so that when I change or add a file to my computer, it will be automatically updated in the One Drive cloud.
Today, I decided to create a 2nd Microsoft acocunt for myself---using all my same info. as for my main Microsoft account, except I used a different email address to create the account. I was successful! I then decided to "invite myself" from my main account, as one of my 5 family members to benefit in having a 2nd 365 account. My main motivation in doing this is to back-up 2 external hard drives that are NOT part of my computer, that have extremely valuable information on them, since this would allow me to upload them to a completely different One Drive 1TB storage account. The reason being that these external hard drives are huge (close to 1TB of info) and I also DON'T want to sync them, since the info. on them will remain constant. This will serve as a back-up in case either of the external hard drives crash.
Well, it didn't quite work as planned. Although I was able to "accept" the invite from my main account, and therefore technically I now have 2 Microsoft 365 acocunts, once I tried to open the new 1TB One Drive on my new account, it automatically defaulted to my 1st (main account's) One Drive. So I dont have that 2nd One Drive account that I really wanted. This defeats my purpose in creating this new 365 account.
Perhaps using the same name and credentials (except for email address), as well as the same computer to create the account, confused things--I am not sure.
FYI, I am using a PC and have Microsoft 11 installed as the OS for my PC.
Any suggestions on how to do this successfully OR any other thoughts how to save these external hard drives to a seperate One Drive 1TB account?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
